Farewell robots, welcome to droids?

Generative AI has been a breakthrough on a level rarely seen in History. Applying it to robots would bring them capabilities only witnessed in movies. Doing so is no longer science fiction.

Bottom line

Robots have allowed major gains in production efficiency and volumes, but further progress is hampered by their limitations at a time when worker shortage is creating increasing pressure on economies. Recent breakthroughs in Artificial Intelligence (AI) create an opportunity to punch through this ceiling, and pave the way to creating truly collaborative robots. While there is much work to be done before having Star Wars-like robots, each intermediary step has the potential to bring its own revolution and the first signs can already be seen in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and security.
